Sound Underground

What

  • A series of public markers and audio installations that draw attention to the existence of and histories surrounding Coldbrook Creek. Each site contains audio and visual information pertinent to the location.  You can access that info by visiting the sites. You can also access it here.

Who

  • Kate Levy, GVSU Padnos Distinguished Artist in Residence, 2023-24
    • Kate led this project with her artistic vision and attention to detail.

Where

  • Public Parks throughout Grand Rapids. Though mostly underground now, the markers follow where Coldbrook Creek historically flowed above ground and include the following locations:

    • Highland Park
    • Mary Waters Park
    • Canal Park/Coldbrook Pumphouse
  • Map
